Patricia Wanda Richardson

December 5, 1945 — August 22, 2026

Patricia Wanda Richardson, age 80 of Hardy, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born December 5, 1945 in Richmond, Virginia to Earl and Gladys Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gladys Jones; her daughter, Angela Corrigan; and her granddaughter, Jessica Corrigan.

Patricia graduated from New Hanover High School, class of 1963. She became a computer programmer for some time, and then she worked as a supervisor/planner for Simpson Paper Company where she met her soon to be husband, L.J. Richardson.

She is survived by her husband, L.J. Richardson; her son, Alan Petty (Julie); stepson, Shawn Richardson; her sisters, Janet Chestnutt and Deborah Edgar; her grandchildren, Tara Sanders (Scott) and Ross Petty, and Ian Richardson, Zane Richardson and Bryn Richardson, and Dylan Richardson; her great-grandson, Rowan Sanders; and various cousins.

As a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had many interests. She lovingly raised two children and as life’s circumstances unfolded, her grandchild. She thoroughly enjoyed caring for her horses and being a part of Jessica’s barrel racing. She loved spending her time keeping up the little ranch and working outside in the yard. There were many days you would find her riding jet skis on the lake always with a big smile on her face. She cherished the time she spent with her grandkids which included many summers where they would spend a week with her at the little ranch she called Cedar Ridge Ranch.

She had a contagious smile, was driven, loving and kind.

Her family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
