Barbara Jean Wright Davis, age 62 of Rocky Mount transitioned from this life to eternal rest on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. Barbara was born on December 22, 1963 in Franklin County, VA to Jo Ann Wright Gill and Guy Junior Wright. Barbara was educated in Franklin County Public Schools. At an early age, she was baptized at Franklin Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Penhook, VA. In her early years of life, Barbara was known to be a farmer and she later became an employee of Bojangles doing what she loved the most, which was cooking and making biscuits. Barbara found joy in helping others, listening to music, and just simply lending a helping hand to people she endured, whether in her neighborhood or out in the community. Barbara was best known for making the best pan of cornbread along with fried potatoes and onions, playing cards and VA lottery. Barbara Jean was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, uncles, and aunts, her infant daughter, Precious, a very special nephew who was like a son to her, Cordavious Immanuel Wright, and a special aunt, Betty Wright Adkins. Those left to cherish her memories are two sons, Christopher (Marlo) Wright of North Carolina, and Stefon Davis, Jr of Rocky Mount, VA; mother, Jo Ann Wright Gill of Rocky Mount, VA; father, Guy Junior Wright of Martinsville, VA; a loving sister, Cecile Fitzgerald of Martinsville, VA; loving brother, Jeffrey Wright of Rocky Mount, VA; her grandchildren, Carrington Wright and Carter Wright both of North Carolina, Brianna McCoy, Zykarah Davis, Madison Davis, and Cortavious Davis all of Rocky Mount, VA; a special nephew, Kylique Wright of Rocky Mount, VA; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends; special cousins, Teresa and James Wright of Rocky Mount, VA and Allan and CeeCee Wright of Rocky Mount, VA for their love and support. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026 at Flora Funeral Chapel. Her family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
