SML Gives Asks the Community to do What it Does Best: Give!

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE – Thirteen (13) local nonprofits are participating in a brand new online giving day called SML
Gives, with the goal of raising funds and awareness to help fulfill their missions, right here in Bedford and Franklin Counties, VA. SML Gives is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to fund raise, gain exposure and build relationships. It is also an opportunity for the community to come together to raise as much money as possible to make a big impact for the participating nonprofits.

SML Gives was created because a previous regional giving day was discontinued and a local nonprofit decided to launch SML Gives to provide a continued opportunity for local nonprofits to raise funds and exposure in the Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia area. SML Gives 2022 will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 12:00am to 11:59pm online at www.smlgives.org.

The Smith Mountain Lake community is the best at taking care of their neighbors in need. The participating organizations do amazing work in our community, such as providing nutritious meals for food insecure families, providing a safe place for families to stay during their most vulnerable times, protecting and advocating for children, caring for animals in need, helping with medical transportation needs, making the arts accessible, providing access to
healthy living and more.

SML Gives is a day to celebrate and support these efforts in our community. We hope you will join us on March 16th in making an impact on our community.

SML Good Neighbors, Inc. is the hosting organization for SML Gives. SML Good Neighbors, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit located in Moneta, Virginia. The organization, founded in 2007, provides scholarships, education, enrichment and nutrition services, free of cost, to children in Bedford and Franklin Counties, VA. Their mission is to develop good neighbors skills and values in children through programs that nourish, educate and support them while providing
life-changing experiences for college students through leadership development internships.
