Lynchburg Man Leads Bedford Co. Deputies on High-Speed Chase Involving EMS Vehicle

BEDFORD COUNTY – A Lynchburg man was arrested New Year’s Day after leading Lynchburg Police and Bedford County Authorities on a high speed chase on Route 460 west Friday.

Bedford County investigators say Darius Antonio Johnson, 24, has been charged with felony eluding, felony assault and battery of EMS, and driving without a license. They joined the high speed chase already in progress out of Lynchburg City when it entered Bedford County.

Johnson’s vehicle struck an EMS vehicle twice before passing it. Spike strips were deployed to end the chase.

Bedford County authorities were notified of the chase at 1:35 a.m. Friday from Lynchburg Police, who were in pursuit of Johnson’s vehicle following an assault and battery investigation.

Additional charges may be pending from Lynchburg as well.
