Shirley Ann Miller
November 19, 1935 – March 13, 2025

Shirley Ann Miller, 89, of Rocky Mount and formerly of Roanoke, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Shirley was a simple person with very little concern for material things, loved Jesus, and leaned upon God to provide for her. For nearly 40 years, Shirley was a minor celebrity to anyone who ever lived in the Bent Tree community and surrounding areas as she was very well known for her daily walks which she loved dearly. Oftentimes, she walked almost all day, which ultimately lead to good health up until this most recent illness. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 65 years, John Robert Miller. Surviving are her son, James “Jimmy” Miller of Ferrum; daughter and very committed and selfless caretaker, Charlene Hutchins of Rocky Mount; grandsons, Michael (Michelle) Miller of Snow Creek, David (Tracy) Dixon of Roanoke; great-grandchildren Telle (Elina) Miller of Tokyo, Japan, Austin Saponaro of Ferrum, and Lydia Miller of Snow Creek. Shirley greatly missed those that preceded her in death and we can all take solace that she has now been reunited and is suffering no longer. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park, 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
