Floyd Monroe Anderson

January 5, 1942 – March 26, 2024

Floyd Monroe Anderson, age 82 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Katherine Anderson; an infant son; eight siblings and their significant others; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Sandra Anderson; children, Darryl (Jane) Anderson, Melita Anderson and Nicole Rayle; grandchildren, Steve (Cherie) Anderson, Chelsea (Chris) Green, Bridget (boyfriend, Tim) Anderson, Travis (fiancé, Melody) Puccio, Joseph (girlfriend, Carolina) Puccio, Daniella (boyfriend, Landon) Puccio, Elena DeJesus and Davina DeJesus; great-grandchildren, Connor Anderson, Aaliyah Liles, Grayson Green and Ainsley Green; special niece, Sherry Anderson; and his beloved fur babies, Bear and Boo. 

Floyd went to work his first job at Mick or Mack, carrying groceries in 1956 for 50 cents an hour when he was 14 years old. He worked at DuPont for 15 years. He co-owned Anderson Aker Tree Service, with his best friend and nephew, Duck Akers. He maintained Water’s Edge Golf Course for a number of years and co-owned Anderson Tractor with his son Darryl. In addition, he worked as an auctioneer for 59 years under Anderson Auction Service. 

Floyd married his soulmate, Sandra, in 1992. His best days were spent in his rocking chair on his front porch with his children and grandchildren by his side, and his dogs in his lap. Floyd was the leader of the Bojangles Breakfast Club, a group who met up every morning at the Rocky Mount Bojangles to, as Floyd put it, “solve the problems of the world.” Floyd was a farmer, a man of faith, a family man, and a friend to all. Floyd loved God and his family more than anything else… and they loved him just the same.

Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
