Bernard Eanes

Bernard Eanes, mostly known as Bernie, age 76 passed away at his home in Rocky Mount on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Per his wishes there will not be any visitation or funeral, but there will be a memorial dinner in the weeks to come. Bernie was born in Martinsville, VA to Henry Clay Eanes and Pattie Beaufort-Gravely Eanes. He was married to his loving wife of 40 years, Nannie Kate Law Eanes. They were married on July 25, 1964 in Collinsville, VA. Bernie worked as a butcher most of his life at various stores in several states. His favorite store being Rocky Mount Kroger’s, where he worked for over 20 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran in which he was in the Army. Bernie loved so many things, cooking was his favorite along with playing jokes, working on computers, horseback riding, roller derby and to travel. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nannie Kate Eanes; and brother and best friend, Bobby Eanes. Surviving are his loving daughter, Katelyn Addiele Law Sarver; son-in-law, Kristopher Ryan Sarver; granddaughter, Savannah Paige Sarver; sisters, Sandra Eanes Byrd and Betty Eanes Kanipe; and a very special friend, Allyson Renee Nichols, who was like another daughter. The family asks for memorial donations to be sent to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital in Bernie’s name instead of flowers.
