Gerald Lynn Hall (Peanut), age 70 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born November 29, 1950 a son of the late Boyd “Hawkbill” and Edna Hall. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gene Autry Hall, Marie Furr, Guy Hall, Jerry Shane Hall, Margaret Wescott, Allen Hall and Irene Sigmon. He is survived by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Elmer Hall, Wayne & Pat Hall and Jay Hugh & Dianne Hall; numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in education and went on to teach for Franklin County Public Schools for over 30 years. He also was the assistant baseball coach during some of those years. Gerald touched countless lives over his teaching and coaching career. He inspired, motivated, picked, joked and was the friend, father figure and role model to everyone he came in contact with. He was also an avid supporter and fabric of Franklin County Athletics, hardly ever missing a game to support the generations of students he taught, along with their parents who he also taught and coached. He will be missed greatly by all of his golfing buddies, who are too numerous to list, that he loved to be with every Monday, Wednesday and weekends by trying to take every ones money. He also loved his time in Daytona Beach with family and friends along with the golfing and NASCAR races every February. Peanut will be greatly missed by all those he came into contact with and also grew to love him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Franklin County High School Athletic program in his name. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Chapel. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
