Motorcyclist Suffers Minor Injuries in Crash With Truck Last Friday
FRANKLIN COUNTY – A Boones Mill man was charged with failure to yield the right of way last Friday when the truck he was driving pulled out in front of a motorcycle on Grassy Hill Road, state police say.
The crash happened at 3:20 p.m. last Friday at the intersection of Brick Church Road, state police tell Cable 12.
Jameison Paul Highley, 25, of Lynchburg was driving a 2001 Triumph Speed Triple motorcycle north on Grassy Hill Road when a 2002 Toyota Tacoma truck traveling south on Grassy Hill Road failed to yield the right of way and attempted to make a left turn onto Brick Church Road, hitting the motorcycle at an angle, state police say.
Billy Joel Short, 78, of Boones Mill was charged with failure to yield the right of way. Short was not injured in the crash. Damage to the truck he was driving was to the front corner of the vehicle.
Highley received minor injuries from the crash, but did not need medical transport. The motorcycle he was driving had to be towed. Highley was wearing his helmet, according to state police.
