Huddleston Man Killed in Bedford Co. Crash

BEDFORD COUNTY – Virginia State Police say a Huddleston man is dead after the car he was driving ran off the road and hit a tree.

John Francis Finnegan, 75, was driving a 2018 Toyota Avalon south on Route 626 Sunday, May 12, when the car ran off the left side of the roadway, hitting a mailbox before crashing into the tree.

The crash happened at 12:10 p.m., police say.

Finnegan was not wearing his seatbelt. He was taken to Bedford Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The crash is under investigation.
