Mason Ligon Remembered in Scholarship Ceremony
ROCKY MOUNT – The late coach Mason Ligon was honored in a ceremony Friday night at W.W. Naff, Jr. Field at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.
Four baseball players were presented with Mason Ligon Scholarships: Noah Basham, Grayson Chitwood, Will Turner and Cameron Mullins.
Franklin County High School principal John Cruchfield led the ceremony. A tribute from Ligon’s life long friend James Priest was given. Former player and coach F.L. Slough also spoke about Ligon’s contributions to the game.
FCHS Head Baseball Coach Barry Shelton and former baseball coach Gerald Hall were also in attendance to present scholarships.
