Four-time Grammy nominee Yola joins Harvester’s October headliners
ROCKY MOUNT, Virginia — Nashville-based singer Yola will bring her genre-straddling, powerhouse style to Harvester Performance Center on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m., the venue announced today.
The British artist, who was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy in 2019, is the latest addition to an already impressive set of shows in October, including recently added Mavis Staples and Brent Cobb w/ Adam Hood.
Yola’s debut album, “Walk Through Fire” garnered three Grammy nominations in the Americana and American Roots genres. Her most recent project, “Stand for Myself,” defies classification, featuring elements of soul, pop, disco, roots, gospel and more.
She had been planning to record a second album as she began 2020, fitting it in somewhere around opening dates for Chris Stapleton, festival appearances, and an acting gig that would take her to Australia. After just one show with Stapleton, she found herself in lockdown and able to focus her creative energy.
“The album is like a window into my mind, my life experiences, my politics, my hopeful and sentimental sides, and my hope for humanity at large,” Yola said in a news release, adding that she hopes that anyone who has ever felt “other” will personally connect with the 12 tracks.
An exclusive presale for Harvester email subscribers begins Thursday at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. at harvester-music.com.
