Flora Funeral Service Obituary: Margaret Anderson Hurt
Margaret Anderson Hurt, 87, of Henry, Virginia, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 29, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. Anderson and Doris Huff Hall; husbands, Jimmy Taylor and Elwood C. Hurt; son, Jeffrey Taylor; sister, Virginia Compton; brothers, George “Buck” Anderson, Joe “Pete” Anderson and Charlie Eanes; and granddaughter, Becca Deel Glass. Margaret is survived by her children, Denise Lewis, Mark Taylor, Renea Dyer, Angela (Steve) Layman, Lisa (Randy) Hurt-Glass and Betsy (Joe) Ogle; step-daughter, Brenda (John) Parsley; grandchildren, Mike Austin, Mark Taylor, Angel (Barry) Young, George Dyer, Maggie Layman, Ben Ogle and Annabelle Glass; step-grandchildren, Kathryn (Patrick) Ishii and Marisa (James) Finnerty; great grandchildren, Amy and Brycen Young; step-great grandchildren, Josiah and Grace Ishii; uncle, Maurice Huff; brother, Carol “Happy” Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Goldie Bryant. Margaret was a proud employ of DuPont for 41 years. She was a long time member of Providence Baptist Church and in later years, attended Prillaman Switch Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved visiting others and sharing her home-cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her late sister-in-law, Ruth Hurt Joyce. Margaret took pride in her home and family. She was a strong, independent woman who is going to be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 6-8 on Friday, May 3 at Flora Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
