Michael F. Coveny, age 77 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020. He was born in Lakawana, New York on June 8, 1943 to Gerald Joseph Coveny and M. Rita Coveny. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and two brothers, David Paul Coveny and Charles Edward Coveny. He is survived by his wife, Ramona M. Coveny; two daughters, Kristin K. Davis (Neil) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Erin M. McKinney (David) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; three step-daughters, Sabrina Greco (Dominick), Dawn Blackwell (Thomas), and Michele Whitlow; and a step-son, Jessee Musselwhite. Michael was a Jack-of-all-trades, Navy Veteran whose careers ranged from hairdresser to mechanic to college professor. He loved a good road trip, had a great sense of humor, and was a free spirit. He was fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren often to the point of tears. Generous to a fault and a big teddy bear at heart, we all knew we were loved. He never wanted anyone to make a fuss over him and did not want a funeral. In lieu of flowers a donation in his name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
