Rocky Mount Teen Killed in Crash Thursday Night
FRANKLIN COUNTY – A single vehicle crash Thursday night killed a teenager from Rocky Mount, state police say.
Destiny Hodges, 16, was the passenger in a vehicle that struck a tree. Hodges died at the scene. She was wearing her seatbelt.
The vehicle was driven by Elijah Derrick Rorrer, 21, of Salem. Rorrer was wearing his seatbelt and taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries, state police say.
State police say the crash happened at 10:14 p.m. on Route 220 Business, one tenth of a mile south of Route 220, when a 1989 Ford ran off the left side of the road, hitting the guardrail, then hitting a tree.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
