Thomas Douglas “Doug” Johnson

July 2, 1938 – January 8, 2025

Thomas Douglas “Doug” Johnson, age 86 of Glade Hill passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He was born July 2, 1938, a son of the late Roy E. and Annie Mae Oakes Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Billy and Buck Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Ernestine Hodges Johnson; children, Sue Secrest (Duke), Gary Johnson and Michelle J. Page; grandchildren, Crystal Roberts (Jamey), Carrie Williams, Kyle (Jenny), Eric, Trevin (Katlyn), Brianna Johnson and Kavyn Page; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janice Ellis (Chuck); several nieces, nephews and many special friends. Doug worked at Lane Company for over 25 years where he was a supervisor. He also worked at Stanley Furniture and retired from American Furniture Company. Doug was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved and spoiled his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 with Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
