William Roger Hale

August 7, 1939 – January 6, 2025

William “Roger” Hale, born August 7, 1939, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2025. Roger was the beloved son of the late Maynard and Carey Hale. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Hale.

In 1983, Roger married Brenda Hale, and together they built a loving home on the very land where he grew up in Ferrum, Virginia. A devoted husband and father, Roger’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, and family.

Roger dedicated 28 years of service to DuPont and later worked at Rocky Mount Elementary School for seven years. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

A man of many passions, Roger found joy in hunting, music, and restoring classic cars. He was a faithful member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Ferrum, Virginia, where his strong faith and warm spirit were evident to all who knew him.

Roger is survived by his loving family: sons Danny Campbell, Randy Campbell, Sandy Campbell, and Tim Hale; his daughter, Kay Smith; his brothers, Roy Hale and Jimmy Hale; and his cherished nieces and nephews, including Maynard Hale, JJ Hale, Travis Hale, and Lorie Holland.

Roger will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his family, and unwavering faith. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Twin Oaks Baptist Church. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Hale-Guilliams family cemetery.
