Monica Michelle (Montgomery) Austin

Monica Michelle (Montgomery) Austin, born October 15, 1976 to Mike and Marie (Jamison) Montgomery. On September 4, 1999 she was united in marriage to Bradley J. Austin. They were baptized together in September 2001 into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. They enjoyed over 24 years together before her tragic death in a vehicle accident January 9, 2024. To this union was born, Kaitlyn (Don) Flora and Nicole. She was a loving wife, mom, daughter, and sister who enjoyed talking and laughing around the kitchen table with her family and working in the garden with her husband. Monica was employed by the Foothills Produce Auction and maintained a produce stand at her home. She will be remembered by her tender heart and shining light to her family and community. Monica was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Charles Austin and Carolyn Austin-Flora; grandparents, Levi and Lydia Montgomery; grandparents-in-law, Nelson Austin and Odell and Joanna Bowman; and step-grandfather-in-law, Everette Wilt; uncles, Lowell Montgomery and Barry Patterson; and aunt, Parthenia Montgomery. She is survived by her loving husband and children; parents; sister, Melanie (Matt) Fitgerald; brothers-in-law, Wendell (Janet) Austin and Anthony (Leah) Austin; step-father-in-law, Darrell Flora; nieces and nephews, Sierra, Lance, Mariah, and Chase Austin, Abigail (Mason) Garber and their children Audrey and Rayna, Macy (Bryant) Garber and Laurie, Lee, Kirby, Lani, and Riley Austin; and many close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM and 5-8 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024. The funeral will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 all at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church, located at 101 Elam Lane, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065. The Home Brethren will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
