Polly Darlene (Hardy) Hicks

Polly Darlene (Hardy) Hicks of Rocky Mount, age 67, passed away in her home on Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Cornel Hardy and Thelma Pauline (Mills) Hardy. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Connie Francis Hardy, as well as cherished grandson Brandon Leon Miller. Polly loved her family fiercely. An avid reader, she enjoyed a good Stephen King novel, laughing with friends, snuggling with her pugs, and listening to music. Even as her health deteriorated, her bright smile continued to light up a room. She will be remembered for her kind heart, spirited personality and unconditional love. Polly will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Roger Hicks; daughters Kimberly Stump, Stacie Hicks and Sherri Krauss (Eric); grandchildren Alex Johnson, Kayla Surber, Raven Surber, Bailee Surber, Shawna Tarkington, Samuel Krauss, Andrea Krauss, Abigail Krauss, Logan Krauss and Dakota Krauss. “Nanny” Polly was also the proud great-grandmother of 7 boys whom she adored. A graveside service will be held in Monte Vista Church Cemetery, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
