Melvyn Douglas (Doug) Holland

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Melvyn Douglas (Doug) Holland, age 81 of Wirtz, VA on Monday, July 10, 2023. Up until his retirement Doug earned his living at the Lane Company in Rocky Mount, Virginia. All through his life Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman and NASCAR racing fan. In his later years when he was no longer able to hike his beloved Smith Mountain or fish his favorite trout stream he would always call his friends when the state had stocked local streams. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Leffie Raymond (Pete) Holland; and his mother, Mollie Holland. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Sink Holland; his mother-in-law, Maxine S. Sink; children, Jeff (Vicki) and Blake (Christy); three grandchildren, Brady (Grace), Grant and Benjamin; two brothers, Tom Holland (Ellen) and Wayne Holland; sister, Kathy Brown (Don); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
