Dayton Nathanul Perdue, age 74 of Moneta passed away Monday, October 5, 2026. He was born on June 7, 1952, the son of the late John Joseph Perdue and Mary Elizabeth Hatfield Perdue. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey Jean Arrington Perdue; brothers, Harvey, Bobby, Hubert and Henry Clay; sisters, Sara Belle Bowman and Eva Marie Mitchell and a brother-in-law, Freddy Dale Arrington. Surviving are his brothers, Lewis and Sammy Perdue; sisters, “Sissy” Bollings and Juanita David; sons, Dayton Nathanul Perdue Jr. (Alice), Joseph Thomas Perdue (Jennifer), Timothy Ray Perdue (Amy) and Jimmy Wade Perdue; grandson, Joseph Thomas Perdue, Jr., Dayton Nathanul Perdue III, Brendan Perdue; granddaughters, Margarite Perdue, Megan Perdue, Ashley Nichols and Jordan Oakes; great-grandchildren, Joel and Natalie; as well as surviving brothers-in-law, “Tommy” Lee Arrington (Hazel) and “Eagle” Arrington; sisters-in-law, Betty Ruth Stump (Bo), Reba Arrington Sink (Paul), Blanch Perdue and Dorene Perdue; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. Dayton was very well loved and highly respected. If ever there was a true man with a heart of gold, it was Dayton. He farmed, raised tobacco, cut and sold pulp wood and logs for many years. He worked for Crawford Excavating for 53 years. If ever anyone needed anything, Dayton was always there. He dedicated his life to helping others. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 with Steve Pasley, Minister officiating. Interment will be private following the service. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
