Maxine Wray Angle
April 20, 1929 — November 11, 2025

Maxine Wray Angle, age 96 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. She was born April 20, 1929 and was the daughter of Lloyd Newton Wray and Tabitha Mae Wray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stafford Hughes Angle; her brother, Vernon Childers and wife Lorraine; and brother-in-law, Fred Haynes. Surviving are her sister, Mervine Gale “June” Haynes; children, Anne A. Perdue (James) and Wayne L. Angle (Sheila); grandchildren, Tara P. Holley (Steve), April P. Montgomery (Anthony Huff), Matthew Angle (Allison) and Brian Angle (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Greg Holley (Sarah), Julia Holley (Hunter), Emma Bowman (Alvin), Hayley Montgomery, Bristol Huff and Claire Angle; her great-great-granddaughter, Margaret Holley. She was so proud of them all. She was also survived by a special nephew, Frederick Haynes; special niece, Charlene H. Manippo; as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Melvin G. Leisure for many years. Maxine was a “Red Hat Lady” for many years and enjoyed the friendship she had with them. She was a member of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a quilter with the church women and a “kitchen helper” for a long time also. She enjoyed trips to the beach with family and enjoyed traveling with her sister and a group of ladies. However, her greatest pleasures were her family. Special thanks to hospice for all their help and kindness shown to our nana and family these few weeks. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 15, 2025 with Pastor Greg Broyles officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
