John Charles Halliday
July 25, 1967 – August 24, 2025


John Charles “Doc” Halliday, born July 25, 1967, aged 58 of Boones Mill, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
He attended Holy Cross Regional Catholic School in Lynchburg, VA, but graduated from Harwood Union High School in Vermont in 1985. Upon graduation, he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his naval service, he proudly continued his career in the United States Coast Guard, where he attained the rank of Senior Chief. He retired in 2014 after many years of honorable service to his country. Most recently, John was employed as a Site Supervisor with PER MAR Security Services.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Halliday; his stepdaughter, Jessica Brim; and his beloved granddaughter, Adalynn Brim. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy Halliday and Jean Langlois (Vincent). He was a proud uncle to Jeremy Langlois (Courtney), Kate Faraci (Steve), Sarah Luther (Steve), Joseph Langlois (Miranda) and Mary Cottrill (Jason). John will also be lovingly remembered by his great-nieces and nephews, Madison (Dakota), Lilli, Austin, Emma, Matthew, George, Jocelyn, Michael, Meadow and Jordyn.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Halliday and an infant brother, John Emilio.
John was a man of few words but great devotion. He cherished time with his family, especially his granddaughter, who was his pride and joy. He loved his dog, Smokey, enjoyed hunting, and never missed a birthday or special occasion of those he loved.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2025 with Rev. Johnny Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with Military Honors. His family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
