Laquita Austin Bowman

August 8, 1941 – June 18, 2025

Laquita Joy Austin Bowman, age 83 of Wirtz peacefully departed this life Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Orpha Austin; her son, Meredith; brother, Roger Austin; sister, Dianne Rutrough; and sister-in-law, Nancy Austin. She was born August 8, 1941 in Franklin County, VA and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Berlin Bowman; children, Shelia (Steve), Patrick (friend, Jammie), Dewey (Rebecca), Reuben (Mary), Lillie Guachetta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Austin (Doris); sister-in-law, Jane Austin; and brother-in-law, Jacob “Jake” Rutrough (Bonnie). She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family, friends and neighbors. We greatly appreciate all the loving support and prayers of the community. Our mother loved flowers, however her desire would be to consider a memorial donation to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County or to Red Valley Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be held at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Meetinghouse, 10:00 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025. Her family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Meetinghouse (101 Elam Lane, Boones Mill, VA 24065). Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
