Larry Buel Bowling

July 10, 1942 – December 26, 2024

On December 26, 2024, Larry Buel Bowling, age 82 of Ferrum passed after a short illness. Larry was the son of the late Buel and Ethel Bowling. He is survived by his sisters, Dale Moore and Dawn Bowling of Chester and Deanne Loyd (Steve) of Greensboro, NC; and sister-in-law, Joyce Bowling of Ferrum. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Gary Bowling; sister, Bette Wilson and brothers-in-law, Donald Moore and Bob Wilson. While Larry did not have children of his own, he had a host of nephews, nieces, great and great-great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Larry attended Ferrum College and joined the Army and served in Germany. Upon moving to the Richmond area, he worked for Philip Morris and retired from the Virginia Employment Commission as a systems development manager in information technology.

Larry was quiet, attentive and interested in what people were doing. Family was very important to Larry and he was always available for a good conversation. Larry enjoyed spending time at Leesville Lake. A Celebration of his life will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 along with his sister, Dawn.
