Betty Davis Dillon

August 30, 1936 – March 18, 2025

Betty Davis Dillon departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Jack C. Dillon. She was the last surviving child of William (Bill) and Blanche Shrader Davis. She felt blessed to be the youngest child as she was able to share the love of her older siblings and their families who were very dear to her. Betty retired from Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital where she worked for many years and maintained lifelong devoted friends who were like family. She was an active member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church with a wonderful and supportive church family, and also where she and Jack were wed September 21, 1957. Having no children of her own, Betty is survived by many cherished Davis and Dillon nieces and nephews, as well as special great-nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Sandra. Betty wished to express her heartfelt gratitude to her family, many special friends, great neighbors and her church family. She was thankful and blessed to have Jack by her side over the years as she worked tirelessly to restore her health and not give up her will to fight after diagnosis of ocular uveal melanoma. She was forever grateful for Dr. Paul Savage and Melissa and the generous care of her healthcare teams at Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Care; Dr. Perry Shen (Wake Surgical Oncology), Dr. Craig Greven and Sherry (Wake Forest Eye Center), Drs. William and Andrew Fintel (Blue Ridge Cancer Center), Drs. James Maxey and Dr. Jack Bumgardner (Carilion Family Medicine), and Carilion Dermatology, Drs. Susan Dorsey and Dr. Zachary Holcomb; and her caregivers, Elaine and Mary. As she was blessed with the kindness and assistance provided when so greatly needed over the past few years by family, friends, neighbors and church family that in lieu of traditional remembrances that you treasure each day as it is a true blessing and a gift from the Lord.
