Thomas “Tom” R. Carr

January 25, 1942 – March 1, 2025

Thomas R. Carr, 83, of Boones Mill, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Born on January 25, 1942, in Victoria, Texas, he was the son of Robert and Ruby Carr.

Tom was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kristen Carr, and a proud father to his children, Thomas C. Carr and his wife Angela of Fort Worth, TX, and Monica Hahn and her husband Tony of Arlington, TX. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Carr and his wife Barbara, and William Carr and his wife Mandy; his sister, Jane Gunn and her husband Robert; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Tom was a retired owner of an industrial machine tool sales business, having dedicated over 40 years to his profession. Throughout his career, he worked closely with leading manufacturers of military aircraft worldwide. His deep expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence garnered the respect of both colleagues and clients.

Outside of his career, Tom had a strong passion for adventure. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed hunting with his son, horseback riding with his wife, and taking care of their horses and ranch. He treasured the time spent outdoors and had a deep love for travel, always eager to explore new cultures and embrace fresh experiences. Tom lived life to the fullest, driven by his Christian faith and an infectious enthusiasm for every moment.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Franklin Heights Church, 110 Hilltop Dr, Rocky Mount, VA 24151, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 AM. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice in his memory.

Tom’s legacy of love, generosity, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he impacted.
