Betty Jane Persinger Ganges
May 25, 1941 – March 11, 2025

Betty Jane Persinger Ganges was born on May 25, 1941, in Stanaford West Virginia and passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Glade Hill Virginia, after a lengthy illness. She was the second of seven children born to Allen L. Persinger Sr. and Catherine E. Brown Persinger. Betty attended Riley Elementary school and graduated from Stratton High School in 1959. Her first church home was New Era Baptist Church in Stanaford WV, where she served as an usher and Sunday school teacher until 1962 when she relocated to Philadelphia PA. Betty moved her church home to New Central Baptist Church and served on the usher board for fifty years. She sang with the Jean Poole Singers and was a member of the National Usher Association where she was Chaplain for her district. Betty met and married her husband DeVere H. Ganges in 1971. While in Philadelphia Betty she was a proud member of the United Ladies Garment Workers Union. She went on to become a proprietor of her own business. Betty enjoyed traveling abroad and spending time with family. After the death of her husband in 2009, Betty moved to Rocky Mount Virginia to be close to her siblings. She is survived by her sisters, Martha Ann Persinger Holland (Andrew), Shelby Persinger Hancock, Marion Persinger, Victoria Persinger Ferguson (Dean) and brothers, Allen L Persinger Jr. and Larry D. Persinger (Eva). She has many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Hinson officiating. Interment will follow in Byrdview Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
