David Ronald Trout, Sr.

May 15, 1939 – February 17, 2025

David Ronald Trout, Sr., 85, of Hardy, VA, passed away on February 17, 2025. Born on May 15, 1939, in Roanoke, VA, he was the beloved son of the late Lester Ray Trout, Sr. and Hettie Polumbo Trout. He is reunited in heaven with his parents and his son David Ronald Trout, Jr.

David proudly served in the Navy from 1956 to 1958. After his service in the Navy, he went on to spend many years running a variety of businesses, where he was known for his hard work and his honesty. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.

In his spare time, he enjoyed anything to do with classic cars and was well known in the car community, often spending his weekends tinkering on cars or possibly doing a burnout or two. His love for cars was something he shared with his children and grandchildren, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Most of all he loved the Lord, his wife of 68 years, and his family. His dedication to the word of the Bible and his marriage is something to admire. His love for one woman his entire life is the true testament to his dedication to those that he loved. Though he may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored.

He is survived by Sallie Trout, his devoted wife; his children, Raine Bowles (David), Davin Trout (Dawn), and Stacey Trout (Angel).  He was a proud Pawpaw to Kyle Clingenpeel (Robin), Davy Trout, III, Kayla Baker (Bobby), Alexa (Jon), Logan Trout, and Elizabeth (Joel). His legacy continues through his 10 great-grandchildren and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

The family would like to thank Penny and Pam with Gentle Shepherd Hospice and Tabitha Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

We find comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
