J.T. Shelvion Altice

October 1, 1935 – February 6, 2025

J.T. Shelvion Altice of Rocky Mount, VA passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC after a brief illness. J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Altice; parents, Ada Altice Greer and Earnest Altice; sister, Margaret Altice, step-daughter, Robin Mayhew and nephew Kenny Altice.

Surviving are his children, Mike Altice (Sherry), Melissa Conran (John), Marshall Altice (Temple) and Mickey Altice; stepsons, Daniel Hennis (Dee) and Dean Hennis; brother, Everette Altice (Arlene); grandchildren, Victor Booth (Nicole), Crystal Alexander (Buddy), Brandon Altice, Heather Lee (John), Tammy Manning, Ava Altice, Gabriel Altice and Julia Altice; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Alexander, Austin Alexander, Lucas Booth and Nalani Booth; nephew, Greg Altice; and niece, Cassandra Altice.

J.T. was a hard worker. He spent several years working at the shipyards in Newport News where he learned welding, electrical and mechanics. He was well known into his retirement years for repairing lawn mowers and equipment. He loved golf and spent many weekend days on the golf course with his golf buddies and also loved to fish and hunt.

Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 with Randy Sawyers officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
