Juanita Evans Young
January 24, 1943 – January 13, 2025
Juanita Evans Young, of Rocky Mount, Virginia was a devoted wife, cherished mother, beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, treasured sister, caring aunt and loyal friend. Born on January 24, 1943, she went to her heavenly home on January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and her faithful husband of 62 years, David Milton Young, the love of her life.
Juanita was preceded in death by her son, Randall (Randy) Todd Young; grandson, David Taylor Young; brothers, Allen and Merrill; and sister, Judy Luke.
She is deeply missed by her children, Kimberly (Kim) Dawn Kincer and Phillip S. Young (wife Rebecca); as well as her grandchildren, Courtney Kincer Hurd, Emily Kincer, Ethan Kincer (fiancée Jazmine), Brooke Young, Seth Young, Jacob Young and Katie Overstreet. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Charli Young, Bella Young, Bayleigh Young, Riley Hurd and one Kincer on the way. Juanita is survived by her brother, Lynwood Evans; brother-in-law, George Luke; sister-in-law, Etta Young; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind a special friend and neighbor, Lisa Whitlock.
Juanita cherished the lifelong friendships she shared with her dear friends, including Brenda Akers (deceased), Margie Gann (deceased), Stella Flora, Betty Blair, Carol Moore and Patsy Smith (deceased). Lovingly referred to as the “Beach Bunch”, they spent many hours laughing and enjoying their friendship.
For over 23 years, Juanita worked for Franklin County Public School Systems. As the warm and welcoming face of the Franklin County High School, she left a lasting impression on countless students, faculty and visitors. Her compassion and dedication extended far beyond her professional duties as she became a beloved figure whose kindness and energy uplifted the entire school.
A woman of deep faith, Juanita was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, joining the Church at the age of thirteen. Her devotion to her faith was evident in her many contributions to the Church, where she joyfully taught Sunday School, led Bible School activities and served on various committees.
Juanita found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her warm and welcoming nature was a gift to all who knew her, offering comfort, encouragement, and laughter. Juanita’s kindness, compassion, and quiet strength left an unforgettable legacy of love and grace.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2101 Goose Dam Road, Rocky Mount, VA with Pastor Chris Bennett and Pastor David McEntire officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church an hour prior to the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Juanita’s name.
