November 21, 1934 – November 19, 2024

Ira Aaron “Bud” Roth, age 89, of Rocky Mount, Virginia, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Born on November 21, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra Jean Roth; his son, Bryon Roth and wife Barbara; his daughter, Anna Byrd and her husband Johnny; and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Rosa, and Danielle, along with numerous great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Jewel and Estelle. Bud’s family was the heart of his life, and he took immense pride in each one of them.

Bud served his country honorably in the United States Army for 33 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. His military career included a tour in Vietnam, two tours in Germany, and multiple stations across the United States. His commitment to service extended far beyond the Army, as he also found time to be a Pastor, an insurance broker, and a bail bondsman. Bud was a man of many talents, always seeking ways to serve others with humility and compassion.

For more than 30 years, Bud and Sandra called Rocky Mount, Virginia, home. They were active members of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, where Bud’s faith and dedication to God inspired those around him. Bud had a gift for making people feel seen and valued; he never met a stranger and had a unique ability to light up any room with his fun-loving spirit, loyalty, and kindness.

Bud’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A graveside service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Mountain View Memorial Park with Military Honors. His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
