Geraldine Jones Smith

March 21, 1932 – October 23, 2024

Geraldine Jones Smith, age 92, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024. She was born March 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph Aldine Jones and Pearl Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Smith, Jr., brothers Ishmael, Rudolph and Stafford Jones, sisters, Ina Messenger, Juanita Howell, Estelle Jones, and Christine Jones. Surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends. Geraldine attended St. Peters Mission School in Callaway and was a 1950 graduate of Callaway High School. She was a believer saved by Christ and now is with the Lord Jesus. She loved her family and shared many laughs with them as she had a good sense of humor and easy going personality. She loved dancing and traveling with her husband “Junior” Smith. She is the last of the great generation in the Aldine Jones family. The family expresses their appreciation for the care she received from the many employees of King’s Grant Retirement Community and Mountain Valley Hospice. Her family will receive friends at 10 am and Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, October 25 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Va. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Pigg River Cemetery Fund, in care of Treasurer, Janet Bowles, 50 Holland Road, Callaway, Va. 24067.
