Sevilla Marie Ashworth Bower

December 27, 1928 – October 9, 2024

Sevilla Marie Ashworth Bower, age 95 of Rocky Mount passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1928, in Rocky Mount, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Paul Bower; parents, George and Dorinda Ashworth; siblings, Howard, Eva, Denton, Nellie, Albert, Mary and George; and her oldest daughter, Frances Lynch.

Surviving are her daughters, Jane (Earl) LaPrade and Alice (Tim) Emmons; grandchildren, Tim (Bev) Lynch, Cheryl Lynch, Kim (John) Aldridge, Stephanie (Noel) Naff, Emily (Wes) Van Pelt, Jonathan Emmons, Nathan Emmons, Michael (Danielle) Emmons; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Velma Meador.

The family is grateful for the care of so many in the last several years: Mary, Joyce, Brenda, Marjorie, Becky, Darla, and Elaine.

She was a lifelong member of Antioch Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School for many years, worked with the youth, and pitched for the softball team. She was an avid quilter, a meticulous seamstress, and enjoyed gardening, canning, and preserving. She was famous for her homemade apple pies. She was a woman of deep faith, service, and simplicity.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. at Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, VA. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
