Donald “Donnie” Lee Flora, 78, of Boones Mill, VA, stepped out of time and into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
As a young teenager he met the love of his life, Marie Sink Flora, and they married in 1965. They celebrated 59 years of marriage in August of 2024. They loved taking day trips, visiting friends and neighbors, serving on their church’s outreach ministries, working together in Gideons International, and loving and supporting their granddaughter who was Donnie’s sidekick and apple of his eye.
Their family includes their daughter Dee White married to Ernie and their daughter Julia. His parents (both deceased) are Albert and Mildred Flora. Donnie’s four siblings are Tommy Flora (deceased) married to Mabel, Sherrard Flora (deceased) married to Connie, Barry Flora married to Brenda, and Kay Flora LaPrade married to Richard. He left the legacy of faith and memories of laughter to his numerous nieces and nephews.
Donnie started his business Domade, Inc. in 1981 with the slogan, “If we ain’t got it, we’ll get it!” And throughout his years of selling industrial maintenance products in his iconic red truck, relationships he made became not merely customers, but lifelong friends.
Donnie’s life changed forever when he was saved by the grace of Jesus in 1999. He loved his church and church family at Franklin Heights Church in Rocky Mount, VA where he served as a deacon and greeted and shook the hands of many as they entered its doors.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 2-6 p.m. at Franklin Heights Church (110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Franklin Heights Church at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Franklin Heights Church or Gideons International, Franklin County Camp. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
