Bennie Franklin Carter

Bennie Franklin Carter, age 95 of Rocky Mount died Thursday, October 3, 2024 at his home. Bennie was born in Elkin, NC on February 21, 1929 a son of the late Walter Franklin Carter, Sr. and Martha Alice Hinson Carter. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Carter; and siblings, Ruth Carter Reece (Paul), Howard Carter (Helen), Madeline Palmer (Odell), Norris Carter (Marie), Walter “Jake” Carter, Jr. (Henrietta), Stewart Carter (Dorothy), Juanita Lundy (Arvil) and Helen Carter Landingham (Chet). Bennie was a hard worker who loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors including animals. He enjoyed remodeling projects especially remodeling his historic home. Bennie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed. He was proud of his Tar Heel Heritage and the many friendships he had established over the years. Surviving are his wife of 76 years, Irene Pardue Carter; son, Mike S. Carter (Chris Anne); grandchildren, Courtney Dagger (Thomas), Blake Carter (Hilary), Jenni McClure (Danny); great-grandchildren, Colin Dagger, Abigale McClure, Evelyn McClure, Lila McClure, Parker McClure; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special caregiver, Sarah. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Mountain View Memorial Park 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2024 with Mr. Fred Tudor officiating. His family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
