Robert Lynn Whitaker

September 30, 1957 – September 12, 2024

Robert Lynn Whitaker, age 66 of Rocky Mount beloved father, grandfather and friend, joined his son and wife Shawn Whitaker and Carol Whitaker in heaven on Thursday, September 12, 2024. 

Robert is survived by his parents, Stanley and Alice Whitaker; son, Casey Whitaker (Cecillia); grandsons, Ethan, Elijah Whitaker; granddaughter, Emma Whitaker; step-son, Jonathan Angle (Heather); step-grandson, Tyler Angle; and special family friend, Cindy St. Clair. Robert was a veteran of the US Air Force specializing in Demolitions. He was an avid cruiser that loved being out in the ocean with no worries and plenty of food. He did not think you could get much better than a Guy’s burger unless it was a Prime Rib.

Robert was a quiet man for the most part but if he liked you, he would pick on you relentlessly at any opportunity. After his wife passed, he talked a little more and when asked why he never talked much he would say he just let her do all the talking.

Robert worked in retail for many, many years. He has worked at Wal-Mart for most of those years. He has made an abundance of friends along the way and they will most likely remember him picking on them and giving them a hard time in fun.

When he lost his loving wife Carol of 32 years of marriage he filled his time with his grandson Elijah. In recent months he was able to spend time with his granddaughter Emma. They were the light of his life. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your charity of choice in Robert’s name.

Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
