James Dandridge Boitnott

James Dandridge Boitnott, age 93 of Boones Mill passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia on November 16, 1930, son of the late Woody and Lelia Boitnott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, J.D. Boitnott and two grandchildren and six siblings. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Annie Mae Boitnott; children, Joyce Young (Ronnie), Kathy Boitnott (Jim), David Boitnott (Sharon), Goldie Boitnott, Charles Boitnott (Annie) and Joe Boitnott (Laura); 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a sister Irene Ankney. James was in the Korean war from 1949-1953 and was a purple heart recipient. He worked in furniture and auto repair work before he was the owner of Boones Mill Upholstery for 35 years. He liked to hunt, fish and take trips to Virginia Beach with his family in his younger days. A special thanks to the staff of the Salem veteran’s hospital for all their support. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with Military Honors. A potluck will follow at the home of James and Annie Mae Boitnott for the family. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
