Nora Shively Radford Underwood

August 19, 1927 – May 25, 2024

Nora Shively Radford Underwood, age 96 of Ferrum walked into the gates of glory on Saturday, May 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, Denver Radford; her second husband of 12 years, H.D. Underwood; an infant daughter, Phyllis Radford; brothers, Alvin, Oscar and Garfield Shively; and sisters, Dora Jones, Elsie Rakes and Eva Peters. Surviving are her daughter, Pat Radford Hodges (Fred); granddaughter, Tricia Hodges Johnson (Manley); grandson, Freddie Hodges (Maryann); great-grandson, Denver Johnson; step-great-granddaughter, Casey Johnson; many special nieces and nephews; step-daughters, Pat Owens (Dave), Joan McKenney (Dave), Brenda Piercy (Dale) and June Taylor (Mark); along with several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Underwood was a graduate of Ferrum High School and taught in a one room schoolhouse. She served as Treasurer for Ferrum Faith Assembly of God for several years. She loved her Lord and her church. For those desiring to provide food for the family please bring to the Crossroads Ruritan Building following the service for a meal instead of the home. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 12 noon Thursday, May 30, 2024 with Pastor Roger Jones and Mr. Richard Shively officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
