Curtis Wayne Maxey

January 6, 1962 – May 25, 2024

Curtis Wayne Maxey, age 62 of Rocky Mount was born January 6, 1962 and passed away peacefully Saturday, May 25, 2024. He fought an 18-month battle with small cell lung cancer and took every step of the way with grace and dignity. He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Maxey, Sr.; mother, Mary Christine Sloan; brothers, Jerry Maxey, Larry Maxey, Lonnie Maxey and Alton Maxey, Jr.; and sisters, Loretta Mason and Linda Webb. Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda Amos Maxey; his family he loved so very much, daughter, Mary Joan Maxey (Alexander); his “pride and joy” granddaughter, Alaya Rayne Cook. He was also loved by his brother-in-law, Thomas Amos; along with many other family and friends. He is missed dearly and will live on in each of us. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery (Dugspur Road, Callaway.) His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
