Jefferson Wade Dunbar
March 21, 1958 – May 22, 2024
Jefferson Dunbar, age 66, born in Piedmont, Alabama, resided in Rocky Mount passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 after a tough fought battle with lung cancer. He was the glue of our family and showed everyone true, genuine love. He was the type of man to put everyone before himself in every circumstance; a great man who apparently knew everyone. He was the best father and the greatest Poppie to all 16 grandkids. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Dunbar (Big Nanny); father, Morris Dunbar (Pops). He is survived by his, sisters, Bobbie Neice (Roger) and Jody Hall (Tim); his one son, Dallas Dunbar (Laura-Lee); daughters, Shelby Shelton (Randy), Emily Mattox (Tertius), Shyanna Dunbar and Angel Reeves as well as his 16 grandchildren, Lane, Juana, Prescilla, Brianna, Jesus, Kayla, Diego, Victoria, Bo, Tucker, Aireonna, Juan, Fernanda, Zayva, Talia, Isla, and one unborn. He also has one great-grandchild, Giovanni along with numerous nieces and nephews and a great niece, Mckinley and a great-great nephew, Corbin; along with many friends. Jefferson’s dedication to his family will live through us all. His gummy smile was infectious and sure is one to remember. He’s in a better place now, may he rest in peace. We love you Poppie. A graveside service will be held in Franklin Memorial Park 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to assist with expenses will be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount
