Man Killed in Pittsylvania Co. Crash Over the Weekend

PITTSYLVANIA CO. – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash, which
resulted in a fatality.

The crash occurred Sunday (Aug 7) at 7:59 a.m. on Route 668, one tenth of a mile south of Route 761 in Pittsylvania County.

A 1998 Lincoln Navigator was traveling south on Route 668, when the vehicle ran off the right
side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the roadway and overturned. The Lincoln was driven by Elijah Baker Slayton, 75, of Gladys, Va.

Mr. Slayton was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
