Lowell E. Layman

Lowell E. Layman, 83 of Wirtz, peacefully departed this life on April 23, 2022. He was married to Miriam Rutrough on November 14, 1959, To this marriage was born five children, Allen and Dena Layman, Nedra and Richard Jamison, Donna and Donnie Beckner, Carla and Neil Jamison and Galen and Karen Layman, 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lois and Marvin Bowman, Betty and Curtis Selby, four brothers, Wayne and Wylenia Layman, David and Judy Layman, Owen and Dorothy Layman, Daniel and Teresa Layman, two brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia Rutrough, Darrell and Sharon Rutrough and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Dorothy (Boone) Layman, his wife’s parents Jesse and Adren (Wells) Rutrough, brother-in-law Lotis Rutrough, great-grandson, Eli Landes. Although we will miss Dad and his meek, humble, quiet spirit, we know our loss is his eternal gain. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Good Samaritan Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday and 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church (101 Elam Lane, Boones Mill, VA 24065).
