Silas Holland
Silas Holland, age 86 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed on to be with his Lord on Monday, March 14, 2022. Born September 11, 1935 and a lifelong resident of Franklin County, Virginia he was preceded in death by parents, Fonzie and Lucy Holland; his beloved wife of 45 years, Sylvia Holland; son, Mark Holland; sisters, Eva Dillon and Ellen Dillon; brother, Charlie Holland; half-brothers, William Holland, Buford Holland, Herbert Holland and Russell Holly. Surviving to cherish his memory are daughters, Peggy Smith and husband Ronnie Smith of Roanoke, Lisa Holland of Christiansburg; son, Keith Holland and wife Ellen Holland of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Heather Trail; and grandson, Matthew Holland; and great-granddaughters, Presley Trail and Makenna Trail. Also surviving is his brother, John Holland and wife Mary of Texas; and sister-in-law, Janice Holland of Rocky Mount; and numerous nephews and nieces. Silas was a well-respected businessman in Rocky Mount with Angle Hardware and Lynch Hardware for almost 60 years until his retirement, a devout member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, and was a proud founding member of the Waidsboro Ruritan Club with 49 years of perfect attendance. His passion was his family, hunting, mowing, gardening, and watching car racing with his trusted friend Glen Cannady. He leaves behind many friends to cherish his memory and remember his storytelling. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Flint Hill United Methodist Church are suggested. Donations can be mailed to Allison Nunley, 522 Booker T. Washington Hwy, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Anthony Budzik and Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will follow in the Holland Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
