Nannie Kate Campbell
Nannie Kate Campbell, age 102 of Redwood, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Nannie was born on May 17, 1919. Nannie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. She was a wealth of knowledge and was everyone’s “go-to” when they needed a “history lesson”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hudie and Minnie Thurman; husband, Ted Campbell; son, Tommy Campbell; grandson, Joel Campbell; brothers Paul, Albert & Monroe Thurman; & sister, Naomi Campbell. She was also proceeded in death by her son-in-law Bill Holley, daughter-in-law’s Marie Campbell, Barbara Campbell, and Darlene Campbell.
She is survived by sons, Buford Campbell, Wayne Campbell, Michael Campbell and wife, Rita, Melvin Campbell and wife, Johnna, & Larry Campbell; daughters, Sylvia Holley, Patsy Smith and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Tammy Carter, Michelle Ray, Robin Davis, Melissa Hamblett, Tracy Holley, Donna Perkins, Rhonda Campbell, Scott Smith, Shawn Balogh, & Joshua Campbell; great-grandchildren Dustin, Daniel, Matthew, John Michael, James, Vance, Joseph, Derek, Gray and Sage, great-great-grandchildren Ryan, Cam, Zabian, Harper and Mia, numerous nieces and nephews and other significant friends of the family.
We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care given to her, by her son Larry Campbell. He generously cared for her for 35 years; the last 6 years being daily, round-the-clock, live-in home care.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care she received, as well as Doctor Jason Foerst and Crystal.
Her family welcomes friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Flora Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted from Redwood United Methodist Church at 11 am on Thursday, with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
