Quentin Stephen Halm
Quentin Stephen Halm, of Burnt Chimney, VA and formerly of Elmira, NY passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Quentin was the son of Edward and Velma Halm, born on Oct. 9, 1942 and recently celebrated his 79th birthday with family. Quentin is survived by his loving wife, best friend of 51 years and recently his care giver, Roxanna Halm; his loving son and family, Jason (April) Halm of Burnt Chimney, VA; grandchildren, Kyle (Heather) Halm of Bunker Hill, WV, Becca Halm; and, great-granddaughter, Ember of Burnt Chimney, VA.
Quentin is also survived by siblings, Elaine Shelansky, Garnet Halm of Elmira, NY, Chris (Mary Ellen) Halm; sister-in-law, Mary Halm; brothers-in-law, Bill (Jeanne) Wilkins of Big Flats, NY, Bob (Kaye) Wilkins of Lowman, NY. Quentin is also survived by many nieces and nephews with special niece, Jennifer Buell. Parents and brothers, Edward (Joe) Halm and Roger Halm preceded him in death.
Quentin was a graduate from Elmira College, class of 1971 with a degree in accounting. He worked in accounting for a few years and then went on to retire as a Correction Officer at Elmira Correctional Facility in 2006. He was also a musician and played many years in the Mystics Band and several other bands in the Elmira area. Quentin also taught guitar to many students in the Elmira area passing on his love of music.
Quentin had many interests throughout his life along with nurturing his son Jason, April and grandchildren about lessons in life and their interest. His most cherished memories being road trips with the grandkids, Kyle and Becca, traveling to Lancaster, Chincoteague Island and Gettysburg, along with many battlefields, fire stations and a horse or two along the way.
There will be no calling hours at his request and a celebration of Quentin’s life will take place at convenience of his family. Memorial donation may be made in Quentin’s name to your local Humane Society.
