UPDATE: Man, Woman Found Safe After Multi-Agency Search Ongoing Following Possible Abduction in Boones Mill

The female and male have both been located safely in a neighboring jurisdiction. No charges have been filed at this time. The circumstances around the reported abduction will continue to be investigated.

BOONES MILL – On Monday, July 12, 2021 at approximately 4:45 PM, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications center received a call in reference to a possible abduction from the Subway in Boones Mill.

Police are looking for the suspect, Kevin James Cole, 30, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, across multiple jurisdictions. Cole is a white man.

Investigators say he was driving a dark color Dodge Dart, Virginia tag ULS1473, shown on security cam pics. Cole took off on 220 north. Investigators say he could be armed.

The victim is Cassanndra Joy Smith, 33, of Bedford.

The suspect and victim are known to one another, possibly in a relationship. They are known to frequent the Roanoke area, in addition to Franklin and Bedford Counties.
