On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Jewell Witcher Moran, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 90.
Jewell was born on October 28, 1930 in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Garland Douglas and Elma Blount Witcher. Her brother, William “W.B.” Witcher also preceded her in death. Jewell later moved to Virginia where she met Berkeley Amos Moran. Berkeley and Jewell were married July 24, 1965. The following year their two children, Barry and Betty, were born. Jewell and Berkeley remained married until Berkley’s passing in 1989.
Jewell left behind her daughter Betty Robertson, son-in-law Chris Robertson, son Barry Moran, and daughter-in-law Joyce Moran. Jewell was also blessed with six grandchildren over her lifetime: Samantha, Ethan, Alex, Shannon, Amy, and Delaney whom she loved dearly.
Jewell spent many of her years working hard for her family both in the household and in the work force. After working in the manufacturing and retail fields, she studied to become a certified nursing assistant and retired from Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was known by the community as an avid member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church and for many years an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, sewing, and reading.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park on Saturday May 15, 2021 at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
