FERRUM – Ferrum College has been placed on lockdown as local authorities investigate a report of a shot (shots) fired near Hillcrest Apartments on campus near the gym.
In a Facebook post, the college sent an alert to “start lockdown procedures” around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
There is a large law enforcement presence on scene.
Cable 12 has heard radio traffic from our scanners that State Police have been issued a “Be On the Lookout” (BOL) for a white SUV with a black male driver on Route 40.
We also have heard that there were shots fired, but no one was injured, and the suspect possibly fled the scene.
Students are posting that they are simply waiting for an all-clear at this point as the lockdown continues.
This is a developing story. Some information is not confirmed, and could change as details emerge.
