Clyde Holland Perdue, Jr., 66, of Rocky Mount, passed away surrounded by his family on February 13, 2021. He was born December 7, 1954 to the late Clyde H. “Yidie” Perdue and Helen Hudson Shelburne Perdue. 

He received his B.A., B.S., and M.A. from Virginia Tech in 1977 and 1979, respectively. In 1984, he graduated with his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. Upon graduation, he returned to Rocky Mount and practiced law with Michaux “Shack” Raine III, where he continued to serve his community as an attorney and friend to all, for over three decades. In 2015, he was confirmed as Circuit Court Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit, where he remained until his retirement in January 2021.

Clyde was a selfless and kind man who would do anything for his family, friends, and community. Many people, from Franklin County and beyond, trusted his guidance and wisdom which he paired with patience and humility.

Clyde is survived by his caring and devoted wife of 38 years, Vickie Brubaker Perdue; his children; C. Holland Perdue III and wife, Jordan, Peyton Perdue and wife, Amie, and Madeline Perdue and partner, Matthew Johnson, and Delaney Perdue. He is survived by five grandchildren, who he doted on and adored: Clyde Holland Perdue IV, Evelyn Blakely Perdue, Henry Lee Perdue, Emily Sue Perdue, and Lily Raine Johnson. 

He is survived by his loving sisters and brothers in law, Emma and Bill “Spook” Parcell, Nanny and Hansford Leake, and Randolph and Joe Martin.

The family received friends Friday, February 19, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount. A private service followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Trinity Episcopal Church of Rocky Mount, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Stroke Association.
